Ourlads' Profile:
2013 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about LANDRY JONES: Oklahoma, 6041 225 5.03. Four-year starter who is a horizontal passer, rarely throwing vertical down the field. He plays in an up-tempo pistol type offense that blends in the downhill running game with play action passes. Jones comes out on the goal-line offense and is substituted for by the Belldozer package featuring Blake Bell 6060, 260 pounds of irresistible force that plows the ball into the end zone. Jones has been hampered by streaks of inconsistency such as the lack of touchdown passes the last three regular season games of 2011. A rhythm type passer, he can be very sharp or very erratic. Throws a tight spiral when he’s on target. Struggled the most in 2011 when he lost his safety net, Ryan Broyles, to injury. Jones seemed to lose his timing and be out of sync. Throws his best balls between the hash marks in the play action pitch and catch offense. At times his sense of urgency is questionable as is his ability to adjust, improvise, and overcome extemporaneously on the field. He can be very accurate, make quick decisions, and have efficient footwork in the pocket. There are some games it looks like he needs a clear pocket to succeed, although he steps up in the pocket and moves well laterally. His productivity is not in dispute. He holds the Sooner career passing record of 16646 yards in addition to other school passing marks. He can scramble at times, but is not considered a running threat type quarterback. Completed 1388 passes in his career with a completion rate of 63.6%, 123 TD, and 52 INT. Projects on the next level as a backup. 2012 stats: 367/555, 4267 passing yds, 66.1%, 30 TD, 11 INT. Ball velocity 53 mph. OSR:10/15. Fourth/fifth round. (A-33, H-9 1/8, SS-4.30, VJ-31).
