Jets Top Needs

The Jets have a busy offseason to follow and Matt O'Leary does his best to make sense of how the Jets intend to snap their losing ways starting with a new general manager, head coach and quarterback.

Quarterback: With Aaron Rodgers out, the New York Jets will be looking for a new QB in 2025. Tyrod Taylor is already on the roster and will likely be in the mix to be the starter but don't be surprised if they dip into the Justin Fields tier of free agent quarterbacks.

WR: Davante Adams and Allen Lazard are likely cut candidates. Expect the Jets to sign at least one wide receiver in free agency if not two. Names to watch are Joshua Palmer, Darius Slayton, and Tim Patrick.

TE: Another massive position of need for the Jets with Tyler Conklin hitting the market. Honestly, Tyler Warren could be in play for the New York Jets at pick seven, depending on how the draft board breaks. This could also be a sign-one and draft-one position for the Jets.

Safety: The Jets will likely spend the 2025 offseason looking for two new starting safeties. In free agency, I'd look at Camryn Bynum or Justin Reid while using a day two selection to try to fill the other safety spot.

IDL: The run game was a massive weak spot for the Jets defense a season ago. They need more on the interior next to Quinnen Williams. A name to watch would be former Detroit Lion Levi Onwuzurike, who could follow his former defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn over to New York.
