Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 4

Week three ended up a fantasy football mind-bender with players like Daniel Jones, Darrel Williams, Taylor Gabriel, and Jordan Akins finding themselves in the top ten of most rankings. If you’re 3-0 in fantasy football, ride high. If you’re 0-3, a mild level of panic is acceptable.

This week, be cautious of the Bears Taylor Gabriel whose 6 receptions for 75 yards and 3 touchdowns was too good to be true. The talent is there, but Gabriel’s use in the offense has been minimal (3 receptions, 35 yards) before week three. Gabriel will need a better track record after he gets back from the concussion he sustained late in the Monday night game. The Bears play the Vikings Thursday night.

Don’t add a player to your fantasy football team if you don’t need one.

QUARTERBACKS

1          Daniel Jones, Giants

2          Jacoby Brissett, Colts

3          Josh Allen, Bills

4          Kyle Allen, Panthers

5          Andy Dalton, Bengals

6          Matt Stafford, Lions

7          Mason Rudolph, Steelers

8          Mitch Trubisky, Bears

9          Teddy Bridgewater, Saints

10        Gardner Minshew, Jaguars

Daniel Jones looked every part deserving of his sixth overall draft pick Sunday. He is the number one pick off this week’s waiver wire. Three of the Giants next six games have favorable match-ups including this week against the Redskins. Jacoby Brissett has been consistent enough in three weeks of play he should be rostered in all leagues. So long as Cam Newton remains out, Kyle Allen should continue to thrive in the Panthers offense. What remains are quarterbacks who were helped by throwing for multiple touchdowns but not by the amount of yardage they threw. The remaining quarterbacks are best used as back-ups or in two quarterback / super-flex leagues.

RUNNING BACKS

1          Wayne Gallman, Giants

2          Rex Burkhead, Patriots

3          Frank Gore, Bills

4          Darrell Williams, Chiefs

5          Chris Thompson, Redskins

6          Adrian Peterson, Redskins

7          Rashad Penny, Seahawks

Wayne Gallman is the top running back pick up if you need help as he is anticipated to carry the load for the Giants while Saquon Barkley is out, and assuming they don’t sign anyone else in the coming week. Rex Burkhead is a solid add especially with James White hurt. Frank Gore has been steady but is touchdown dependent. Darrell Williams’ role will be dictated by the health of the Chiefs backfield. Rashad Penny could be in line to overtake fumble prone Chris Carson as lead running back for the Seahawks.

Wide Receivers

1          Sterling Shepard, Giants

2          Terry McLaurin, Redskins

3          D.J. Chark, Jaguars

4          Courtland Sutton, Broncos

4          Nelson Agholor, Eagles

5          Phillip Dorsett, Patriots

6          Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers

7          Cole Beasley, Bills

8          Dontae Johnson, Steelers

Sterling Shepard is this week’s top add with Daniel Jones under center. Surprisingly, despite the consistency, Terry McLaurin and D.J. Chark are still available in a quarter and one-third of leagues.

With both the Eagles wide receivers and Patriots wide receivers banged up, both Nelson Agholor and Phillip Dorsett have stepped up their game and worthy of rostering. Dorsett has scored both weeks when Antonio Brown wasn’t on the team and if Julian Edelman (chest) misses anytime, his role is only solidified.

Tight Ends

1          Will Dissly, Seahawks

2          Vernon Davis, Redskins

3          Jason Witten, Cowboys

4          Trey Burton, Bears

5          Jack Doyle, Colts

Will Dissly has remained a solid part of the Seahawks offense over the past two weeks. He’s worth an add for anyone struggling to get production from the tight end position in fantasy football. The rest of the listed tight ends are all touchdown dependent.

Defenses

1          Chargers (v. Dolphins)

2          Colts (v. Raiders)

3          Falcons (v. Titans)

4          Steelers (v Bengals)

5          Seahawks (v. Cardinals)

These defenses each play teams that have either struggled in one of the first three weeks of the season or are having problems producing offense due to injuries or poor play. Any defense playing the Dolphins is a solid play this season.
