Cornerbacks

Azareye’h Thomas - Florida State

Excellent hip fluidity in hip flip drill. Great closing speed to get back in-phase quickly. On sideline passes he does a good job leaning into the receiver and squeezing space to the sideline while looking back for the ball and keeping his balance. Bites on double moves, needs to track near hip more consistently. Stutter step at the line causes him to lose leverage at times. High upside with all the talent to be a top player at his position in the future.

Quincy Riley - Louisville

Notable long speed when carrying fast receivers. Adept at staying in phase on vertical routes. Showed excellent ball skills breaking up passes at the catch point. Has a natural feel for zone coverage pattern matching. Was in position to make plays multiple times. Stayed with receivers step for step off the line with proper footwork. He got caught on a couple of double moves downfield in individual drills, a half step slow getting out of his break at times. Some concern about click and close ability. Flashed big hitter tackling skill but had some misses.

Maxwell Hairston - Kentucky

Lean frame with solid muscle definition. Smooth backpedal to gain ground quickly. Glides downfield with excellent bail technique, and can carry speed downfield. Very aggressive at the line with a strong punch and matching receivers step-for-step on their release. Excellent catch away from his body with a wide catch radius. Some drifting at the top of the route. Tripped a couple times in weave drill.

Upton Stout - WKU

Very small frame. Assertive on block destruction with good tackling technique. Great start-stop ability out of his stance. His physicality and footwork help him defeat bigger targets.  High effort, high energy player who's a pest to receivers. Good timing on pass breakups with assertiveness.  He makes plays all over the field. Locked up receivers throughout the week and was rarely challenged. Athletic profile to excel in the slot with the skill set to hold up outside despite his tiny stature.

Dorian Strong - Virginia Tech

Excellent physicality at the line, didn’t allow receivers off the line multiple times. His aggressive nature and balanced base at the line-of-scrimmage will win him reps in press coverage. Loose hips to turn and carry targets downfield. Has speed to stay in phase. Was not targeted often later in the week.

Trey Amos - Mississippi

Solid size with solid arm length. Assertive at the line-of-scrimmage. Locked up receivers on go-routes with physicality. Smooth transition and snap on 45 degree breaks. Excellent transitioning out of a shuffle. Closing and makeup speed is very impressive. Lots of holding penalties in one on ones; gives up too much separation and gets grabby when he falls out of phase. Fell several times when trying to change direction in space.

Jaylin Smith - Iowa State

Excellent hip flips in baseball turn. Very clean out of his breaks. Great man technique from the slot but needs to play with more consistent leverage. Needs more patience in the slot to not give the receiver a two-way go. Has the athleticism to be a starting nickel at the next level.

Darien Porter - Iowa State

Good eye discipline while playing over the top and closes on the receiver quickly on sharp breaks. Considerable speed downfield. Smooth transitions from pedal to turn. Showed decent match skill all week.

Melvin Smith - Southern Arkansas

Solid-sized, thick muscular CB. Covers a lot of ground in his strides. Considerable speed when running downfield matched with physicality and great form turning back for the ball in phase. Lots of reps at nickel. Patience at line wins him reps on underneath routes.

Brandon Adams - UCF

Notable size, towers over the other defensive backs. Great physicality to cut receivers off at the line and stay over top. Notable length helps with breaking up passes at the catch point. Good use of hands when taking on blocking receivers. Decent closing speed, but not great, struggles to catch up. Struggles with speed downfield. Transitions were segmented creating separation.

Mac McWilliams - UCF

Small frame with short arms. His athleticism is on display on his high point. Physical at the line with impressive level change on comeback route. Times up hands well at the catch point to break up passes.  Loses leverage on stutter steps, needs to be more patient.

Johnathan Edwards - Tulane

Tall with a pencil thin frame. Quick acceleration out of his stance. Aggressive punch playing through the hands and finishing plays. Plays a little out of control when beaten  at the line. Could get grabby at times on route breaks. Showed solld tackling skill in the game with some nice plays vs. perimeter runs.

Jacob Parrish - Kansas State

Undersized with skinny arms. Drops his weight really well in Individual drills. Broke up pass with the wrong hand. Some stiffness on 45-degree breaks with a slow V-step. Falls out of phase regularly on the break.

Bilhal Kone - Western Michigan

Fluid hips in hip flip drill. Needs to keep his weight underneath him on breaks. Gets handsy when he starts to fall out of phase and draws penalties. Flashed skill but inconsistent.

Tommi Hill - Nesbraska

Gave up leverage immediately in one on ones. Holds on comeback, needs to sink hips. Slow click and close. Gets run by with hands down in press coverage, hoping to see some more assertiveness on tape if he is going to play in press coverage. Opens hips too early, and loses leverage immediately. Had a better day three practice where he was able to break up some passes, but he is a work in progress overall.

Safeties

Billy Bowman - Oklahoma

Small stature with good muscle definition. Played extensively at nickel and safety throughout the week. Excellent fluidity in space; can change direction in an instant. Excellent physicality in catch-man. His mental processing stood out at nickel and consistently took away targets underneath. Great recovery speed and undercut routes for interceptions and pass break-ups. Best range of the safeties in ball hawk drill. Lack of length makes it difficult to break up passes against bigger targets at the catch point. His strength deficiencies showed up tackling in the game. Coverage tools are elite.

Sebastian Castro - Iowa

Solid frame, great muscle definition. Other than floating on sharp breaks, he showed good technique in man coverage and possesses the speed to carry them vertical. Good recognition skills in zone coverage and takes away targets downfield. Breaks down with proper form on tackles. Was primarily a nickel type player at Iowa but showed versatility to play over the top. Helped himself this week.

Caleb Ransaw - Tulane

Well-built with solid size. Closes space in an instance when breaking down. Excellent fluidity; such a smooth mover overall. Closes space so effortlessly. Good violence and active hands in shed drill. Short area burst is phenomenal, can work easily in a short space. At times gives receivers two way go’s from the slot with no leverage advantage. Absolutely must work on his eye discipline, loses his target at the top of the route too often. High upside.

Keondre Jackson - Illinois State

Massive frame, great muscle definition in arms and legs. Best looking body-type in the safety group. Violently attacks the ball on tackling attempts. Physical in press coverage on tight ends. Flies downfield on kickoff at an impressive speed for someone of his size. Notably long strides in space. Has some problems with man coverage due to some hip tightness and lack of technique. Can be a little slow to cover ground from deep safety when tracking the ball. Has upside to develop.

Dan Jackson - Georgia

Solid hips in individual drills and a quality athlete overall. Good plant and drive, and makes ground quickly. Very impressive movement skills in space. His mental processing and reaction speed help him get to the receiver in time to make plays on the ball in man coverage. However, he needs to play through the hands at the catch point as he misses the ball regularly. Ball skills need work.

Trey Rucker - Oklahoma State

Great backpedal and weaves smoothly, but late on his T-step. Flies downfield on kickoff; a guy you can rely on. Loves contact. Needs to polish his man technique; would turn the wrong way in man coverage at times and struggle to tighten space between him and the receiver.

Hunter Wohler - Wisconsin

Big body with good muscle definition, especially in his legs. Notable fluidity in hip flip drills. Strong hands in shed drill. Need to see more physicality and catch-man to not drift. Start-stop is a step slow. Punches the ball in the air rather than playing receivers hands, causing him to miss often.

Dante Trader - Maryland

In team periods he was active in defending the run and showed his range as a sideline-to-sideline defender. Some stiffness in his hips when turning. Some major difficulties in one-on-ones and will struggle against tight ends as he tends to lose leverage giving them two-way go’s.

Jonas Sanker - Virginia

Flies downfield on kickoff with excellent effort every rep. Average range in individual drills. Solid player, does most things well but lacks one great trait. His effort looked better at the Senior Bowl than on his tape.

Rayuan Lane - Navy

Notably undersized, but good muscle definition throughout. Eyes in the backfield in man and gets beat on double moves. Athletic deficiencies stand out but an extreme hustle guy. Very grabby in man coverage, several pass interference penalties.

Maxen Hook - Toledo

Backpedal is forced and struggles in weave drill. Overall marginal athlete. Leaves lots of room in man coverage. Athletic limitations are on full display. Must play towards the box or he likely will get exposed.
