One-year starter. Transfer from BYU prior to the 2023 season. First-team All-Mountain West this past season. Aligned in-line and flexed out. An undersized tight end prospect with long arms. Best at blocking when detached from the core where he uses sufficient athleticism to climb quickly and seal off linebackers and nickels. Latches onto defenders with hands inside. Solid strength shows up on zone run plays where he can wash defenders down the line. Scrapes tight in split zone to force the end-man outside. Tracks the ball well in the air and adjusts his route as needed. Secures catches with soft hands and turns up field to maximize yards after the catch. Makes impressive catches far outside his strike zone with notable dexterity and using his long arms. Will yank the ball out of the air with strong hands in contested catch situations. He needs to improve his blocking ability overall to improve his game. Shows difficulty sustaining blocks in space. Needs a more aggressive demeanor when blocking in space as he leaves too much space and allows defenders to avoid him. When lead blocking on insert and isolation plays, he gets clogged in the gap and struggles to create push. Lacks explosiveness out of his stance and takes time to accelerate. Needs to find more ways to separate from defenders. Fringe speed and he is not a viable vertical threat at the next level. Shows tightness in his hips when changing direction which limits his route-running ability.
