2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about GRAYSON MURPHY:
UCLA | HT: 6024 | WT: 249 | 40 time: 4.66 | Arm: 3012 | Hand: 0912 | Wing: 7600
Rotational player. Honorable mention All-Pac 12 in 2023. Identical twin brother of UCLA edge defender Gabriel Murphy. The twins played at North Texas from 2019-2021 and both transferred to UCLA in 2022. Grayson was the less heralded of the twins but was still a productive rotational player. Almost identical physical stature as his brother as he lacks ideal bulk for the edge but has functional strength to compete with. Plays with a hot motor and makes a lot of second effort plays. Flashes a quick first step and is quick to shoot his hands into a blocker. Plays with a low pad level and can get underneath a block and shed on the move. As a pass rusher uses a variety of moves including a stab and chop, arm over and under, along with an occasional inside counter. Has a closing burst chasing across the field and can adjust to step up or scramble by a quarterback. Does not have enough in the way of a counter and he can be handled by athletic tackles. Rush can stall at times trying to work back inside. Lacks ideal play strength to consistently set the edge. With that hot motor plays out of control at times. Has not been the most productive as a rotational player but he has decent technique and effort. That said he will need to add to his arsenal to succeed on the edge in the NFL. Developmental prospect as 3-4 outside linebacker or 4-3 defensive end.
2023 Stats: 32 T, 9 TFL, 5 sacks, 2 PBU, 11 QBH, 2 FF. Draft projection: 5th-7th round
