Two year starter. Honorable mention All-Pac 12 in 2023. Identical twin brother of UCLA edge defender Grayson Murphy. The twins played at North Texas from 2019-2021 and both transferred to UCLA in 2022. Has decent bulk for an end, but has underwhelming length. Played mostly from a two-point stance in a wide nine. He's an extreme technician on the edge with hand usage and shed ability. Flashes quickness at the snap with relentless effort working against a block or pursuing. Plays with a low pad level and uses leverage to keep blockers off and getting into the backfield. Makes plays in the backfield with a combination of quick shed ability and instincts to locate the ball. As a pass rusher, shows an arm over and under move and can accelerate around the corner to the quarterback. Shows a variety of counter moves which he works into seamlessly off his first move. Can quickly show an outside move and work back inside. Has a closing burst in the backfield and drives through tackles. If ridden out by a tackle can quickly redirect and chase. Has made some second effort plays. Lack of length is a concern and he has some problems setting the edge against a tackle or tight end. Can get hooked at times. Some segmentation shows at times changing direction and lateral agility is not elite. Versatility is limited as he is not a power collapse the pocket rusher. Has potential as a solid option on the edge as an end or possible 3-4 outside linebacker.

2023 Stats: 38 T, 16 TFL, 8 sacks, 2 PBU, 8 QBH. Draft projection: 2nd/3rd round
