Four-year starter. Third-team All-ACC selection this past season, two-time honorable mention all-conference. Aligns as the Will linebacker in the box and apexed. Significantly undersized linebacker prospect with solid arm length. Gets his run/pass key quickly to react. Fires around the field like a bullet with excellent acceleration. Notable lateral agility to shuffle across the line-of-scrimmage rapidly to adjust to blocking schemes. Physical when coming downhill and not afraid to take on contact. Able to shed and stack linemen with active hands and his aggressive demeanor. Works through traffic to get to the ball carrier in the backfield with aggressiveness to wrap up and drag into the dirt. Solid straight-line speed as a sideline-to-sideline defender. Leverages his area well in zone coverage and uses his assertiveness to cut off receivers. Shows the athleticism to match running backs out of the backfield. Needs to settle down as he does not look confident and won’t settle his feet when getting his read. Bites on eye candy in the backfield and will get out of position. Needs to find ways to avoid blockers as linemen seal him off downfield with ease. Gets shoved to the ground against crack blocks. Fringe functional strength to jam receivers in coverage. Struggles to flip his hips in man coverage to stay in-phase receivers and tight ends across the field. Misses tackles in space due to his lack of strength. Likely a special teams piece early in his career with potential to develop.
