Three-year starter. All-Pac 12 in 2022. Vele is an oversized possession receiver with return value. He has sneaky speed to stay over the top if he can get there. The body control and anticipation for the defense can create plays with the ball in his hands. The uniqueness to his skill set will be best utilized by an offensive mind that can vary his alignments to manufacture space for him to work with. The extra value he can add as a returner strengthens his chances of making a roster, but he will need to improve his ball skills and play to his size more often if he plans to stick around. Long arms and mobile joints from head to toe. Gives the passer a large radius to work with. Subtle tactics to get himself open and underneath make him a friendly target. Sets up defenders to put them where he wants them. A threat to all three levels of the route tree. Lacks power and toughness with the ball and in traffic. Does not have much of a ceiling to work toward. Needs to play bigger. Turns 26 as a rookie.
