Junior entry, one year starter. First-team All-Big 12 and Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 2023. Played two seasons at Minnesota redshirting his freshman year and getting minimal playing time as a redshirt freshman. Transferred to Kansas in 2023 as a redshirt sophomore and broke out. Somewhat lanky frame with incredible length and athleticism and still has room to grow. Played in a two and three point stance in a wide nine or five alignment. Extremely quick at the snap, he uses his long arms to gain leverage and separate from blocks. Remarkably quick with his hands he can stun, separate, and shed in a blink. Surprisingly stout at the point for his lack of bulk. Sets the edge with a strong punch and shows chase ability to the perimeter. Can also sift inside to make plays inline using his lateral agility. Plays with a consistently hot motor and has a closing burst in pursuit. Secure wrap and drive tackler aided by a huge tackle radius. As a pass rusher uses quickness at the snap and a variety of moves to get blockers off balance. Turns quickness into power with an arm over and under, push pull, and stutter and go. Has an inside spin counter move as well. Turns the corner with bend and acceleration to the quarterback. Will lose pad level at times and stalls out if a blocker can get into his frame. Working inside he can lose leverage against powerful blockers. Has a 3-4 outside linebacker profile but was not used in coverage. Still developing and should add to his frame at the next level. He’s an ascending but advanced prospect for his experience and could fit a variety of roles including 4-3 end and 3-4 outside linebacker.
