Two-year starter. Second-team All-AAC in 2023. Slender build with decent length and athletic ability. Traditional stack linebacker off the ball behind a three technique. Has also played overhang in the slot. Aggressive playstyle he gets downhill quickly and takes open windows wherever he can. Has ability to fit the run and is solid coming downhill or scraping off tackle. Can take on blocks with leverage and is surprisingly stout for his size against bigger blockers. Takes an L path to the ball fitting on inside runs and can make plays inline. He can avoid or take on blocks. Has a tight scrape off tackle to get to the alley on C gap and perimeter runs. Has perimeter to perimeter range in pursuit. Launches into tackles turning quickness into power and can drop a back in his tracks with drive and finish. He’s an elite off the ball blitzer anticipating the snap and getting through gaps. He’s been successful blitzing inside gaps as well as outside. Has range to chase down backs and quarterbacks. Shows fluid change of direction in zone and man coverage. Has speed to cover a back up the field and can mirror flat and choice routes. Normally gets depth in his zone drops and looks for work under intermediate routes. He can get attracted to crossers at times and get caught too shallow staring in the backfield. Aggressive downhill attack can get him in trouble at times fitting the wrong gap. Likes to go back door and has made plays doing that but also has been caught behind the play. Lacks power to consistently take on guards straight on. Will need to be covered in the NFL but projects to a Will in the right scheme.
