Junior entry. Three-year starter. Earned first-team All-ACC honors at three positions in 2022, a first in conference history. Will ascended to high-level success in football, track, and lacrosse growing up. Could have been a Division-I athlete in multiple sports. After choosing to play football at Clemson, he saw immediate success, scoring 11 touchdowns as a true freshman (second most in school history by a first-year player). The running back, returner, and all-purpose standout combined to produce at a level very rarely touched in all of Division-I. He graduated in three years with a 4.0 GPA (also a first in Clemson history), continuing to prove that everything he touches turns to gold. Shipley is a hard-nosed, explosive ball carrier with traits on and off the field that make him a safe and easy prospect to project to a quality rotational role. Twitched up, balanced footwork to get through traffic. Vision is a plus. Sound decision maker that will take the crease that is there and explode. Shifty enough hips to adjust last second. Runs with more presence that his weight suggests. Needs to tighten up ball security. Allows the ball to sink too low toward his hip. Will play light at times, yards after contact are not consistent. Inconsistent hands and blocking success make him a questionable-at-best pass game contributor.
