Three-year starter. Former walk-on who earned a scholarship during the 2021 season. Team captain in his final season. Plays his best football in-line but is also extended out of the core. Huge tight end prospect with a massive frame, bulging muscles, but less-than-ideal arm length. A physical presence in the trenches with the strength to uproot edge defenders and walk them off the line. Great strength at the point-of-attack and will shove linebackers out of the gap. In zone schemes, latches onto defenders with serious knockback power and washes them down the line with notable agility and quick firing feet. On isolation blocks, stalemates linebackers at the line with strength to hold his own. A technician in pass protection with proper hand usage, active feet, and scans the front for threats. Uses his strong anchor to hold up against blitzing linebackers and defensive linemen in his way. As a pass catcher, shows solid burst off the line-of-scrimmage. Good speed and acceleration to challenge the seam as a vertical target. He sets up in open areas in zone coverage as a quick underneath target. Soft hands to haul in catches without difficulty. His hands generally land outside on the shoulder pads exposing his chest. He is limited as a receiver and will be coveted for his blocking skills rather than his pass catching skills. Struggles mightily to flip his hips as a route-runner with little snap to separate. Against physical defenders he struggles to create separation and slows down significantly. Provides little value picking up yards after the catch.
