2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about TYLER GUYTON:
Oklahoma | HT: 6076 | WT: 322 | 40 time: 5.19 | Arm: 3418 | Hand: 1014 | Wing: 8214
Two-year starter. All-Big 12 in 2023. Spent two seasons at TCU primarily as a backup prior to transferring to Oklahoma where he locked in the starting right tackle job for two seasons. A former high school defensive lineman and basketball player, Guyton’s tool set and the fact he is an offensive lineman with just two years of game experience leads to the notion there is plenty left for him to realistically absorb. He checks all of the boxes when it comes to tools and talent. The flashes of dominance are there and if a coach can get him to play angry more often, he can be a quality starter on the outside. Guyton plays raw at times, relying on talent more than technique but can get away with it for the most part. Plays wide, balanced, and athletic. Tough to beat purely with speed. Has the burst to climb the edge in a hurry with enough balance. Fast and sudden hands. Knows how to beat a pass rusher post-engagement. Swipes his man’s hands away and replaces them with his. Can mirror against quickness. Feet get off ground with twitch from head to toe. Capable of bending at the knees and staying square. Standout athlete in space as a lead blocker. Can redirect and maintain his strength. Second level defenders bounce off him. Not often the aggressor. Absorbs contact more often than he initiates it. Does not get his hands on first often enough. Inconsistent lower body techniques and will enter the league with less-than-ideal experience. Tends to play high when he needs to go off schedule. Needs better anticipation.
