Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about SHANE BUECHELE: SMU, 6003 210 4.96. Four-year starter, Arlington, TX. Began his career at Texas where he started for two seasons before getting injured and losing his job to Sam Ehlinger. Then transferred to SMU where he started two more years, one of which he earned first-team All AAC honors. He rewrote the single season passing record book at SMU in 2019. While his 2020 didn’t quite reach that level, he continued to show his top tier short and intermediate accuracy. Lacks the ideal tools of a starting quarterback across the board, but there will be a spot for him on a depth chart somewhere. He is a smart and experienced passer who truly maximizes what he brings to the table. Excellent combination of anticipation and accuracy. Gets the ball to the spot early, consistently playing one step ahead mentally. Works through his reads quickly, further showing plus intelligence. Can look deep cover safeties off like a pro. Can adjust his weight, turn his hips, and hit his target in a matter of a second. Will alter his release without losing zip or accuracy. Protects the ball and plays situationally aware. Falls below the desired size line for the position and lacks the athletic ability and arm power to make up for it. Will become predictable to a savvy defense. Played in an ultra-friendly quarterback system. Too often throws a choppy ball. Will get thrown off his game when the defense takes away the short route tree. 2020 stats: 242/370, 3095 yds, 65.4%, 23 TD, 6 INT, 105 yds rushing, 2 TD, 152.95 QB rating. Seventh round/PFA. (A-30 1/4, H-9 3/8, SS-4.60, VJ-30).
