Five-year starter, Midfield, AL. Versatile defensive back who has played both outside at cornerback and safety. Long, athletic frame with great arm length. Good bend in his waist and looks natural in his stance. Considerable disruption at the line-of-scrimmage utilizing strong jams and an aggressive temperament. In man coverage, great hip fluidity to turn and stay in-phase with receivers downfield while reading their hips. When he falls out of phase, shows closing speed to get back in the receiver’s hip pocket. Solid ball skills to play the hands and break up passes with good timing. Solid lateral agility when zone turning to gain depth and see the quarterback. Best in zone coverage where he is adept at recognizing route combinations and will consistently put himself in position to make a play on the ball. Good transitional quickness to plant and drive with the ball in the air. When he diagnoses run, shows effort and desire to be a factor in run defense. Take proper angles in pursuit, and displays ability to wrap up and make tackles. Lacks the foot speed to consistently carry speedy receivers vertical. Will occasionally play out of control and with poor technique. Needs to run his feet on contact as he will at times plant his feet making open-field tackles and get run over. Fringe ability to disengage from blocks, needs to create extension with his long arms and shed. Needs a more consistent motor especially in pursuit. Shows the skill set to add value on special teams and could find a home as a developmental prospect.
