Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about CHARLES SNOWDEN: Virginia, 6062 232 4.65. Three year starter, Silver Spring, MD. Long and lean he has over the top length and wingspan. In the Cavalier’s base defense his responsibility was that of a traditional 3-4 Sam linebacker in a wide alignment. In nickel looks he was an edge rusher in a two point stance. For his frame he has agility and can play in space. Flashes snap quickness and the ability to shoot his hands to separate from a block. Moves well laterally on the edge and can chase down perimeter runs. Also effective sifting inside to make plays inline. With long strides he covers a lot of ground pursuing from the backside and across the field. Uses his length to secure and wrap tackles. As a pass rusher he is relentless working the edge. Keep arms working to swipe blocker’s hands away from his frame. Can bend and squeeze around the hip of a tackle with a closing burst to the quarterback. On inside stunts he can be explosive penetrating gaps. Solid short area zone defender he gets depth in his drop and is tough to throw over. Has a feel for the throwing lane and closing voids in between the hook and flat. Keeps his head working between receivers and quarterback. With the ball in the air he shows closing speed breaking on underneath and intermediate throws. At times plays upright and exposes his chest allowing a blocker to control him. Lack of bulk can create problems escaping powerful blockers. Lacks a variety in pass rush moves and struggles against athletic powerful tackles. Needs to develop counter moves and add some bulk. Snowden is a versatile prospect who will fit a 3- 4 scheme that wants pass coverage from outside linebackers. Solid developmental prospect. 2020 stats: 44 T, 10 TFL, 6 sacks, 3 PBU, 1 QBH, 1 FF. Fourth/fifth round. (A-34, H-9 1/2, BP-21, SS-NA, VJ-NA).
