Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about ELERSON SMITH: Northern Iowa, 6064 262 4.75. One-year starter, Minneapolis, MN. His team did not have a fall season in 2020 due to Covid-19 and he chose to forego the spring season and declare for the draft. First-team All-MVC in 2019. Overall he is still a very raw player but at the Senior Bowl he showed flashes of what he will become. Will likely be a rotational player as a rookie but he should be a starter by his second season and has Pro Bowl potential. Outstanding height and length with big hands. Gets his long arms in the throwing lane. Very good athlete with good burst and acceleration. Covers a lot of ground. Wins as a speed rusher. Has also flashed speed to power. Closes to burst on the quarterback. Takes a long second step versus the run that causes his pads to rise. Will lose vision to the ball in the run game. Still developing his pass rush plan and counters. Senior Bowl notes: Demonstrated explosive first step quickness. Good awareness making a tackle on a reverse in the game. Consistently pressured the quarterback. Good back side chase speed. Strong enough to move back inside and slip tackle blocks. Impressive week of practice and game. 2019 stats: 63 T, 21.5 TFL, 14 sacks, 4 PBU, 14 QBH, 5 FF, 2 BK. Third/fourth round. (A-33 1/4, H-10 1/2, BP-26, 10-1.60).
