Ourlads' Profile:

2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about CHASE YOUNG: Ohio State, 6047 264 4.65. Junior entry, two-year starter, Hyattsville, MD. After earning the 5- star recruit label out of high school and coming to Ohio State with sky high expectations, Young finished his career as a team captain and was the most dominant defensive player in college football last season. Besides being a unanimous All-America he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, winner of both the Bednarik Award and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Ted Hendricks award as the nation’s outstanding defensive end, won three Big 10 conference awards – the Chicago Tribute Silver Football as the Big 10’s best player as well as the Big 10’s Defensive Player and Defensive Lineman of the Year awards. He led the nation with 16.5 sacks despite seeing countless double teams. He is widely considered the best non-quarterback in the draft and will be a player that a franchise can build a defense around. He is no specialty pass rusher, will contribute and impact all three downs. His tools and work ethic to be great make him the next big thing at defensive end to come out of a program that had produced some recent big time NFL talent at the position. Has had a NFL-ready body since his freshman year. Thick below and above the waist with functional strength, power, and great hand strength. Anticipates and jumps the snap and will attack the blocker’s chest with heavy hands and long arms. Can play under the blocker’s pads with a diverse plan of attack. Has a full arsenal of rush moves that is still in development mode which seems to improve monthly. Can adjust late and miss the blocker’s punch while still making his path to the passer efficient. A sharp turner around the edge, flattens it with power and speed. Will make an impact on contact. Can be a power rusher one play and finesse the next. Locates and attacks the ball, six forced fumbles in 2019. A productive machine who is nearly elite across the board. Additional notes: Young is a full service disruptor who can run a play down from behind, cover a back in the flat, or drop into zone coverage and bat the ball down. He is a violent and explosive talent that can stack an edge and bring havoc to the backfield. He is strong enough to shed and make a one-handed tackle. The game wrecker has elite lateral quickness. Plays hang and break on the option. Sticks his foot in the ground and tackles the ball carrier for no gain. Regularly beats the tackle off on the snap. Plays with leverage and generates power to speed and walks the tackle back to the quarterback. Can split a double team and get push up the field. 2019 stats: 46 T, 21 TFL, 16.5 sacks, 3 PBU, 7 QBH, 6 FF, 1 BK. No Combine workout-his choice. Top three pick. (A-33 3/4, H-10, BP-DNP, 10-DNP).
