Three year starter, New Orleans, LA. First team All- ACC in 2022. Smooth moving athlete with solid size for the position. Versatile prospect with experience as a one and two high safety along with playing in the box. As a flat foot read quarters safety he’s quick getting downhill in run support and can track ball carriers from alley to alley. Uses long arms to ward off blocks and flashes shed ability on the move. Solid tackling skill he can adjust in the open field and drive through tackles in space. Has match skill as a box and quarters safety with excellent mirror ability in a short space. Has experience as an overhang player and has shown ability to match and mirror slot receivers. As a zone defender reads route combinations well and has a sudden break with the ball in the air. Productive getting his hands to the catch point and preventing completions. Has improved playmaking skill each year and come up with some key interceptions. As a one high safety he shows range to get to the deep outside but at times shows flat angles and doesn’t get over the top. Deep speed is questionable. His pedal as a one high can be too tall and segmented. Angles in pursuit are inconsistent from the deep zones and at times over or under runs a tackle. Appears to have tunnel vision at times and not see blocks coming. He has special team value on coverage teams and his versatility puts him in line to compete for a backup spot.
