Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about PIERRE STRONG JR.:
South Dakota State, 5113 207 4.37. Four-year starter, Little Rock, AR. Won the MVFC Freshman of the Year award in 2018, first-team All-MVFC three times, and a three-time All-America. Was a dominant force on the FCS level since the day he stepped foot on campus. His production speaks for itself. Physically he plays fast and tough with good reaction time as an inside runner. He is the kind of back who will make the most out of what is given to him. Once in the open field, he has the juice to create more with his movement abilities. There are some concerns with his overall build and lower body mechanics. He may not ever be an every-down, top of the depth chart guy, but he can fit in as a backup for a team that has a no-nonsense approach to the running game. Will need to improve as a receiver and blocker to really stick. Hard-nosed inside runner with excellent reaction time and speed. Can alter his direction while moving at full speed. Finds the creases, can make himself narrow, and shows a consistent forward lean. Stays within the flow of the play. Knows when to take what is there, when to try and get innovative. Will get away from tacklers in the open field with the extra gear to create the big play. Shows desire and effort as a blocker. Shows too much bend at the waist, not enough at the knees which takes away from lower body power. Struggles to see the field on outside runs. Poor hands-catcher and does not sustain blocks long enough.
2021 stats: 1686 yds, 7.0 ypc, 18 TD, 22 rec, 150 yds, 6.8 ypr. OSR:2/28. Fifth/sixth round. (A-31 7/8, H-9 1/4, BP-16, SS-4.25).
