Ourlads' Profile:

2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about MASON RUDOLPH: Oklahoma State, 6045 235 4.92. Three-year starter from Rock Hill, SC. Led the Cowboys to a 32-9 record and concluded his career with 54 school records including single season and career marks for passing yards, passing touchdowns, and pass efficiency. All-America honors as well as the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, winner of the Bobby Bowden Fellowship of Christian Athletes Award, and Sammy Baugh Award which is presented to the nation’s top college passer. He has the makeup and build of a classic drop back, stay in the pocket NFL quarterback. Arguably the most accurate deep ball passer in this draft class. A limited athlete if he has to run. Slides away from pressure in the pocket. Strong leader. Has good arm strength and shows good ball placement and accuracy. Makes good decisions after going through his progressions. Keeps his eyes down the field. Can feel the rush. Plays with a group of NFL type receivers who will go up after the ball. Productive over his career with the tools to succeed on Sundays. The right-handed passer is generally in the shotgun. Wears a left knee brace. Gets set with his feet under him. Uses play action fakes effectively. Throws the full gamut of bubble screens, drag routes, flats, outs, slants, and vertical routes. Stands tall in the pocket. The rhythm type passer has the shotgun catch, pivot, turn, and throw run-pass option footwork down to a “T”. Will shoulder shake and pump fake safeties. The team goes as Rudolph goes during his career. Accurate on vertical throws down the seam and ‘9’ routes. The big guy works the pocket and extends the play. A polished passer who plays with his feet under him. Steps up in the pocket. Good pass mechanics. Well known at OSU for his extra effort work habits and community involvement. Not asked to make a lot of tight window throws. Demonstrates a high release. Keeps the ball high. Has been streaky at times when his timing is off and he throws the ball high. Kansas State gave him fits last fall. Will get locked onto his receivers at times. Needs to work on his footwork from snap to set point. Generally a good blend of touch and zip on the ball. Quick release. Has a smooth throwing motion. Good frame and balance. An eventual starter with developmental time. 2017 stats: 318/489, 4904 yds, 65%, 37 TD, 9 INT, 35 yds rushing, 10 TD, 170.6 QB rating. Ball velocity 52 mph. OSR:12/18. First/second round. (A-32 3/8, H-9 1/8, SS-4.56, VJ-26).
