One year starter, Auburn, AL. Transferred from Florida in 2022 after playing in 37 games and 17 starts from 2019-21. Tall lengthy linebacker with ideal size for the position. Versatile prospect he has experience as an edge defender along with off the ball linebacker. Transitioned to inside linebacker in 2021. He’s quick with run/pass read and gets downhill in a hurry to fit inside gaps. Can be physical attacking blocks when he sinks his hips on contact. Has sideline to sideline range and a closing burst to make plays in space. Shows tackling skill with powerful gather, wrap and drive. Rarely gives up yards after contact. As an edge rusher has a burst to bend and close around the corner. Has been used to blitz inside gaps and is effective anticipating the snap. Shows solid range and an extra gear chasing in the backfield. In coverage has shown ability to match and mirror backs and tight ends with the speed to run with a vertical route. As a zone defender gets depth in drops but processing is inconsistent. He is often slow to close voids in zones and isn’t always aware of multiple routes. Sometimes caught staring at the quarterback and out of position on receivers in underneath zones. Can get upright on blocks and lose leverage. A powerful interior lineman can neutralize him. Needs to be consistent with knee bend and use his length better to separate and disengage from blocks. Pursuit angles can be off and he will under or over run a play at times. He’s still raw, but tools are there to develop. Has been effective on special teams and should be a core special team player as he develops.
2022 Stats: 58 T, 13.5 TFL, 5 sacks, 1 PBU, 1 QBH, 1 FF. 6th/7th round.
