Three-year starter, Jacksonville, FL. Transferred from Blinn Junior College. Burst onto the scene right away in 2020, winning Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year. First team All-Big 12 all three seasons and a 2022 first team All-America. Led the Big 12 in receptions all three years, a first in conference history. His 254 receptions set a program record and were the most ever in Big 12 history among receivers that spent just three seasons in school. To sum that up simply, Hutchinson was Mr. Automatic and had stretches of play where he appeared to be a man among boys. He did all of this despite not having any standout, dominant physical traits. He is an example of a guy who can win over and over by doing things right. Route running, attacking the ball with his hands, coordination, and awareness are lasting qualities that will continue into the future. He may not be a true number one, but he has the game that enables him to stick as a quality number two for a decade. Strong and sturdy frame with well-distributed, functional muscle mass. Thick around the hips, wiry around the ankles. Lines up everywhere. Strong hands with excellent coordination. Adjusts his frame on the move and has filled a reel of over the shoulder catches dating back to 2020. Makes the spectacular reception look easy. Crisp route runner who fully understands tempo and timing. Finds the windows, gets the initial separation. Tough, blue-collar approach with the ball. Won’t go down without a fight. Does not have the next gear to lengthen separation, does not get over the top of a corner. Explosion-reliant movements do not have enough juice. Has always been an underneath threat, rarely does deep damage and limited impact after the catch. He is a quarterback’s best friend that will make the tough catches in traffic, get open underneath, and get the most out of himself, but the lack of speed and length will limit his impact that matches up with a number two-caliber receiver.

2022 Stats: 107-1171, 10.9 ypr, 6 TD. OSR:39/46. 3rd/4th round.
