Three-year starter, West Linn, OR. Three-time All-Pac 12 honoree, first team in 2022. After beginning his career as a backup guard and tackle, the coaching staff wanted to use his intelligence and leadership traits in the middle of the line. A back injury sidelined him for four games in the 2021 season, pushing him to return for the super senior year. Once back on the field, he proved to be one of the top centers in the country. He is the kind of dependable presence inside that can fit into any blocking scheme. His incredibly strong hands and twitchy feet give him a solid base to build from. Does a nice job of staying attached, remaining on his feet, and finishing blocks. Grip strength gives him the ability to latch onto his target and maintain control. Can stay square and at the very least will remain on his feet while keeping quick and active. Has the initial speed to get across a three-tech. Keeps the momentum moving north in the running game. Excellent movement traits as a pass blocker. Maintains a wide base. Can live on an island without help. Lower body thickness is not there. Needs precise setup to maintain an anchor. Struggles to recover if he gets caught out of position. Will lean from the waist and become vulnerable to secondary moves. Needs to be more disciplined with techniques to avoid penalties. The baseline tools, skills, leadership traits and balanced skill set are good enough to warrant a possible starter projection. His position-versatility is icing on the cake and gives him a dependable, versatile outlook.
