Three-year starter, Ontario, Canada. Three-time All-Big 10 and a consensus second team All-America. Son of Darren Issac, a running back who played in the CFL. Brother, Sydney, is also a 2023 draft prospect on the defensive side of the ball. Transferred to Illinois from Western Michigan following the 2018 season. The high school track star redshirted after barely seeing the field in 2019 and then became their feature back from there. His usage was brought to another level in 2022, nearly doubling his career touches to that point. He ended up a Doak Walker finalist, the first in school history. He is a hard-nosed blazer with the kind of homerun ability that can change an offense in an instant. Was among the nation’s leaders in runs over ten and fifteen yards. Best suited for a zone-running scheme where he can search for the crease and turn on the jets to beat defenders to a spot. Can get away from most defenders in space and erase angles. Blasts out of his breaks. Can make the first guy miss consistently. Does not create enough after contact. Will get too hoppy and leave yards on the field. Some indecision in traffic and it does not mesh well with the tightness in his hips. Does not build momentum as a downhill carrier. Has had too many fumbles (he had a nation-high five in 2022 alone). Ball security absolutely needs to be tightened up. Low-impact blocker that does not sustain. At his best in space where he can fully utilize his plus-speed and sharp cutting ability to create big plays. As a part of a committee Brown can be the explosive threat.
