Junior entry, two year starter, East St. Louis, IL. Second team All-SEC in 2022. Versatile prospect with outstanding length. Has been primarily used as a big nickel playing as an overhang player but has limited experience as a two high quarter’s safety. Quick read and react with a sudden downhill burst. Plays with a sense of urgency. Will beat blocks with quickness avoiding and slipping blocks on the move. Effective working against edge blockers by shooting his hands with a quick punch and separate while keeping his feet moving. Explosive tackler, he’s normally fundamentally sound. He launches into ball carriers with knee bend and hip roll. He can drop a ball carrier in his tracks and rarely misses in space. As a blitzer from an overhang position he shows great snap anticipation and a quick first step. Accelerates in the backfield and has created tremendous pressure along with some physical sacks. Solid intermediate zone defender with quick plant and drive with the ball in the air. Finds the throwing lane and has some big hits on underneath throws. Shows match and mirror ability on tight ends and big slot receivers. Shows speed to stay on phase on vertical routes. He has range but has some trouble locating the ball in limited two high reps. Will need to show he can play traditional safety unless he’s drafted as a big nickel only. He shows some segmentation flipping his hips and can get hung up in transitions. Being somewhat high cut he can be slightly slow to change direction. Shifty slot receivers can give him trouble when matched up. He’s at his best close to the line and has what NFL teams want in a box safety. Has multiple role potential and should be outstanding on kick coverage at the next level.

2022 Stats: 71 T, 4 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU, 3 QBH, 3 FF. OSR:13/20. 1st/2nd round.
