Three year starter, Pasadena, CA. Third team All-Pac 12 in 2022. Versatile safety prospect that has played both one and two high along with dropping down in the box as an overhang nickel. He’s an active player with a high motor. Shows smooth movement to transition from a pedal and easily flips his hips to gain ground in the deep zones. Has excellent range over the top. As a drop down safety, processes route combinations in intermediates zones and can find the throwing lane on high low routes. He’s an accomplished flat defender getting a read on the delivery key and breaking on the ball. Has been productive getting his hands on balls in the throwing lane and the catch point. High points interception opportunities with an outstanding catch radius. Has been used to match tight ends and slot receivers showing decent mirror ability against all but the smaller shifty receivers. Has speed to match vertical routes. In run support tracks well from two high or in the box. Flashes ability to stack and shed perimeter blockers and can also out run a block with a quick downhill trigger. He has range in pursuit. Launches into tackles and has made some big hits. That said his tackling is inconsistent and has a habit of lunging low on tackles and has had a number of misses. Has some hip tightness and has trouble gathering in a short space causing him to overrun tackles at times. He figures as a two way backup that can be a factor on special teams.
