Two-year starter, Salt Lake City, UT. Started college career on the defensive line before transitioning to tight end. Plays both inline and split out at receiver. Displays sufficient burst out of his stance. A sharp route-runner with loose hips to change direction efficiently. Shows notable mental processing as he identifies coverages and understands where to sit in zone coverage. Big body tight end who uses his size and catch radius to his advantage. Catches the ball at its highest point with good timing, and will win contested catches with physicality. Best at blocking downhill at the first level where he uses considerable functional strength to stalemate defenders while utilizing proper hand placement and a physical engagement. In limited reps, he wins in pass protection using proper technique and footwork. Struggles to create separation from defenders due to his lack of foot speed and acceleration. Cannot be relied upon as a deep threat at the next level. He is not a threat to pick up significant yards after the catch. Cannot be trusted to pick up defenders on the second and third level due to marginal foot quickness and short-area burst. He is not someone who will hold his ground head-up at the point-of-attack due to his lack of an anchor. Needs to be more assertive when engaging with defenders when asked to slice across the formation or climb a level. Needs to improve his leverage to not allow defenders to slip underneath him. Need to see more competitiveness, doesn’t show desire to excel on 100% of his snaps.
2022 Stats: 30-377, 12.6 ypr, 4 TD. 5th/6th round.
