Three year starter, Indian Land, SC. First team All-AAC in 2022. Played Will linebacker in the Tulane scheme. Primarily a stack linebacker with some long yardage reps on the edge and as an overhang player. Outstanding length to go with an aggressive high motor style of play. Solid read and react he’s quick getting downhill and shows decent instincts with inside run fits. Makes plays getting downhill on the backside and flowing to the ball. Flashes power with his hands attacking blocks. With his length he can keep bigger blockers at bay while working to the ball. Shows above average range in pursuit and has solid tackling skill. Wingspan is apparent when he gathers and wraps on tackles. Has been more consistent tackling in 2022. As an outside pass rusher can get a push and impact the pocket. Outstanding zone coverage defender he has processing skill to position versus multiple routes. Gets depth in his drop and finds the throwing lane. Quarterbacks have to account for his length when throwing intermediate passes in his zone. Quick to break on underneath throws and makes most plays in space on short flat routes. As a match defender can cover tight ends up the seam but will struggle against shifty backs. A little high cut and is more segmented than fluid changing direction. Struggles to get ball side leverage versus climbing blockers. Tends to play straight up and spends too much time engaged with a blocker. Needs to develop footwork and shed technique attacking blocks. Can get caught in the wash on plays that bounce outside. Pursuit angles to the perimeter suffer as a result. Has the upside to develop into a serviceable three down linebacker. Has also been outstanding on all special teams adding value.
