Four-year starter, Clifton, VA. Spent five seasons at Richmond before transferring to Wake Forest for his final season. Third-team All-ACC this past season, second-team All-America in fall and spring 2021, CAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year in spring 2021, third-team All-CAAC in 2019. Best in a one-gap scheme. Quick first step off the line-of-scrimmage. Plays with low pad level consistently. Inserts into gaps using his upfield burst off the line and a violent rip move. Will work half of a man to help him win at the point-of-attack. He is physical when engaged and uses active hands to fight and get linemen off of him. Shows a quick processor to recognize blocking schemes quickly and finds the best way to attack. Quality foot speed to run flat down the line when he reads flow away and tackle the ball carrier from behind. A high effort player who makes plays due to his second effort. Takes proper angles in pursuit towards the sideline. His lack of size hurts his game in a variety of areas. Lacks functional strength and will get overpowered by offensive linemen on base blocks. When engaging, lands his hands too far outside and allows offensive linemen to get their hands inside. Struggles to shed blocks effectively. Cannot be relied upon to anchor down and hold his own versus double teams. Fringe contact balance causes him to end up on the ground often versus both solo blocks and double teams. Needs to polish up his pass rush arsenal and utilize a plan every play. Shows some stiffness in his lower body when attempting to stunt.
