Two-year starter, Laurel, MS. Well-built yet thin frame with long arms. Plays best as a three or four-tech in 3-4 fronts, or as an edge defender in 4-3 fronts. Strong, physical engagement at the point-of-attack with considerable contact balance to withstand single blocks and stalemate offensive linemen in their place. He gets his hands inside to maintain leverage. Shows great functional strength to hold his ground against double teams, and shows ability to skinny up and split linemen to disrupt plays in the backfield. An impressive anchor that makes it difficult for linemen to move him off the line-of-scrimmage. Will peek in the backfield, create extension, and shed blocks to leverage his gap both on the interior and the edge. Solid lateral agility to scrap horizontally across the line-of-scrimmage and maintain blocks versus zone run schemes. He shows success in pass rush using a few successful power rush moves to penetrate the backfield. Inconsistent upfield burst hurts multiple facets of his game, and allows offensive lineman to initiate contact and win leverage. Needs to work on hand violence in order to drive back offensive linemen and create depth in the backfield. Needs better ball get-off and reaction time in order to become a more effective pass rusher. Relies on his sheer power to win in pass rush and will stall out due to his lack of a counter. Displays hip tightness that affects his ability to change direction in space, which limits his ability in stunts. Needs a more consistent motor in pursuit.
