Junior entry, two-year starter, Frisco, TX. Led team in receiving and earned All-Big 12 honors all three seasons including first team last fall. Set a Texas state high school record for most career and single season yards. He is a production-machine with homerun ability. His explosive-play potential shows up in multiple ways week to week. He can line up anywhere on the field, including the backfield and runs the entire route tree like an established veteran. His smooth, but sudden acceleration creates and builds separation that very few lone corners can stick with. Will give an offense plenty of options when it comes to alignment and play design. He creates production via big plays and has several pro-ready traits. Goes from zero to sixty in the blink of an eye. Minimal wasted movement as a route runner with an explosive, yet bendy lower half that can sink and turn in any direction. Precise footwork and usage of small spaces. Gains initial separation consistently and at the very least will maintain it, if not build off it. Elite ball tracker down the field. Makes the spectacular catch look natural. Swiss Army knife type alignment and usage versatility. High effort all the time, no matter the play call or role. Blend of athletic ability and passion create after the catch. Light on contact and has a hard time breaking tackles and making an impact as a blocker. Had spurts of concentration drops. Unplanned, reactionary-based movements are not on the same level as planned movement traits. Lacks some stability in the lower half, creating need for an extra step or two. Mims will be a consistent big play threat on offense and as a punt returner who can be used in a variety of ways.
