Junior entry, three-year starter, Parkersburg, WV. Third-team All-Big 10 this past season, honorable mention in 2021. Plays attached to the core, split out, and in the backfield as a fullback. He is a physical blocker at the point-of-attack who utilizes functional strength to drive edge defenders off the line-of-scrimmage. Shows power on engagement, and is able to wash edge defenders down the line on zone blocking schemes. He will climb to the second level with quality foot quickness and agility, and will create knockback and turn out linebackers and nickels to create running lanes. While climbing, does an excellent job leveraging defenders in space to keep them in between himself and the ball carrier. Displays quick feet and solid technique in pass protection to pick up second level defenders and chip edges. Has a smooth release off the line and will build up speed quickly. Flips his hips well in space which helps him run a multitude of routes. Shows the physical toughness to make contested catches and hold onto the ball through contact. Shows some explosiveness with the ball in his hands to pick up some yards after the catch. Needs to land his hands in a better location and work them inside as a blocker. Struggles to create separation from defenders using speed and athleticism. Needs to improve his route-running ability, as he has a tendency to drift on his routes. Lack of arm length creates a small catch radius.
