Two year starter, Miami, FL. Third team All-ACC in 2022. Transferred from Georgia in 2021 where he saw action on special teams and sub packages in 2019-2020. Strong aggressive corner with foot quickness and solid agility. Has experience in outside zone coverage both deep outside and hard corner. Also played both press and off man. As a press or hard corner is disruptive on the release flashing a stiff off-hand jam. Rarely gives up leverage as he consistently ignores the first move away and can stick the release. He can ride a receiver to the sideline. In off man cover uses a shuffle lateral run to maintain cushion. Normally quick on most transitions and times adjustments to stay connected to route breaks. Has the speed to stay with vertical routes. As a zone defender he has excellent vision and is adept at closing voids in zones. Looks for work if the zone is vacated and covers a lot of ground with the ball in the air. Shows a sudden forward plant and drive on slants and hitch routes. Attacks the catch point with timing to get inside hand in the basket. Excels in run support stacking and shedding stalk blocks with strong hands and lower body power. Gathers and drives through tackles with few misses in space. Tough to get around on the perimeter as he’s quick to track ball carriers. There is some segmentation in change of direction and he will take some occasional extra steps opening his hips or reacting laterally. He makes more big hits than plays on the ball and doesn’t always locate the ball in phase. At times will look back when behind creating separation and a need to recover. Has starting corner potential and has special team value as a returner.
