One year starter at Georgia Tech, Garner, NC. Transferred from Old Dominion in 2021. Played tight end in 2017-18 before switching to defensive end. Earned second team All-Sun Belt honors in 2019. Athletic, versatile player with a powerful lower body. Has played wide nine, five, four-i and three technique at Georgia Tech. Quick at the snap he shoots his hands inside the frame of the blocker while maintaining leverage. Normally plays with knee bend keeping the pad level low. Flashes the ability to move laterally to maintain gap control or set the edge. Reacts well to quarterback on zone read. Has flashed stack and shed ability using an arm over or rip move to disengage. Normally locates the ball and chases with relentless effort. Solid wrap up tackler he can make plays in space on the perimeter. As a pass rusher is primarily a power rusher at this point with a bull rush into an arm over or under to get free. Flashes an inside spin move against oversetting tackles. He shows tremendous effort in the pass rush and has some burst to the quarterback coming off a move. Isn’t always quick to recognize blocking scheme as he can get caught too far upfield. Lacks the agility to consistently redirect. Inconsistent shedding blocks versus the run as there is some pop and stop at times. Relies on power and a high motor over finesse in the pass rush and can get stalemated at times. There is inconsistency as he doesn’t always show bend and ability to turn the corner in to get to the quarterback. Will need to develop more of a plan to take advantage of his ability. His versatility is what the NFL is looking for and he should fit into a rotation playing both outside and inside.
