Three year starter, Bakersfield, CA. First team All-Big 10 in 2022 and second team consensus All-America. Lengthy corner with a physical playing style. He’s experienced in both zone and man concepts playing hard corner and deep outside zone along with press and off man. Shows change of direction and the quick feet of a smaller corner. Playing press man he uses a two and off hand jam to disrupt the release and uses his length to lock receivers out on an outside release. He does a good job of changing technique in man cover going from hard press to reactive press to press and bail. Extremely effective disrupting and running with a vertical release. In off coverage he shows a quick pedal to maintain cushion along with a lateral shuffle into a lateral run. As a hard corner he can be physical re-routing and sinking underneath an intermediate route. Has a good feel for multiple routes in the outside zones. Sees the threats and the quarterback. Quick to plant and drive with the ball in the air. Uses his length to get his hands to the catch point and battle on 50/50 balls. If separated on a cut, his speed and length allow him to recover. Quarterbacks have a hard time getting the ball into the tight window he creates even when trailing. He’s quick to support the run and doesn’t miss a lot of tackles. That said he can get washed out of plays as he doesn’t show power attacking blocks. Can play tall at times and transitions suffer as a result. Turn and run is occasionally late and a receiver can get behind him. He can get a little grabby and too physical at times. His length and skill set will be coveted by NFL teams.
