Junior entry, two year starter, Grenada, MS. First team All-SEC and second team AP All-America in 2022. Has a slightly slim frame but uses his length to his advantage playing the ball and working against blocks. He’s a reactive corner with elite ball skills. Eight interceptions and three pick sixes led the nation in ball production. Has been used in a variety of zone coverage including hard corner and deep outside third and quarters. At his best in zone coverage with an incredible knack for reading and reacting to the quarterback delivery key. Balances multiple routes in overlapping zones and covers ground with a burst with the ball in the air. Sudden to stick his foot in the ground and drive on the throw. Has the ability to adjust to a receiver with the ball in the air and go for the interception or get his hand in the basket at the catch point. He goes up and gets to high thrown balls from behind. Flashes hard corner ability to re-route and react. In man coverage will press and react or press and jam. In off-coverage shows a smooth pedal with speed adjustments to maintain cushion. Has the speed to turn and run with a vertical release. Willing in run support he can keep a stalk block at bay and work to the ball. Slips blocks on the move and is an efficient wrap tackler. In man coverage at times will lose eye discipline looking to make a play and let the receiver get open. Has made some plays doing this but that won’t fly in the NFL. Mirror skill as a man defender is inconsistent and relies on outstanding recovery burst. Has playmaking skill and he will be a fit with a zone heavy scheme.
