Made the move from safety to linebacker after his sophomore year. Still a work in progress he flashes run fits with improving read and react. Deliberate in initial read he works a downhill and lateral shuffle reacting to blocking scheme and backfield action. Once he sees it he is quick attacking a gap. Uses his hands to attack blocks and flashes ability to shed and avoid blocks on the move. Has blitz skill to anticipate the snap and hit a gap. Made some big hits in the backfield. Zone pass drops are precise with ability to quickly get to a reroute of an inside receiver on a vertical release. Fluid to flip his hips to react to pattern pressure. Has a good concept of balancing receivers and reading the quarterback. Quick to break on the throw underneath. Has the speed to stay with vertical routes from inside receivers and can mirror route breaks. Will get lost on double moves. Not especially instinctive versus the run as he is more of a “play by the numbers” guy. At times gets on the wrong side of a block and leveraged out of a play. Struggles to redirect off a block and lacks a consistent power base. Angles to the ball are inconsistent as he will under or overrun at times. Has been outstanding on cover teams and he could have a future as a special team/backup. 2018 stats: 86 T, 9 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 4 PBU, 3 QBH. Edge speed:left 2.14, right 2.09. OSR:5/15.
