Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about KHYIRIS TONGA: BYU, 6017 326 5.10. Started games all four years, West Valley, UT. Took over a weekly role in 2018. Has the potential of being a solid 2-gap defender inside. Can play the role of a boulder, getting off the ball well and taking up space plus blocks to help keep the linebackers clean. An aggressive and passionate player who will make his fair share of plays inside the tackle box as well. May not offer much as a pass rusher but there are traits here that can give off an occasional productive bull rush. A classic nose tackle that can be quietly effective on early downs, especially if he fixes pad level and conditioning issues. Massive upper body with a big broad chest and a bouncer’s arms. Thick up top with an athletic looking lower half. Does a nice job with his hands initially. Will strike the blocker and send the violent jolt. Can get off the ball well and move quickly with preplanned movement. Plus power presence in the middle with a good center of gravity. Stays square when he needs to. Good motor that will pursue the action down the line. Shows some bull rush potential up the middle. Inconsistent impact snap to snap. Gets too high out of his stance, having his hands attack the blocker’s shoulders too often. Will get caught looking in the backfield, making him an easy target to move. 2020 stats: 36 T, 2.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 5 PBU, 3 QBH, 1 FF. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31, H-9 5/8, BP-35, 10-1.74).
