Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JOSH JOBE:
Alabama, 5114 182 4.45. Two-year starter, Miami, FL. Physical corner with experience in a variety of techniques but primarily off and press man. Has played various versions of press both reactive and hands on. Can control a receiver’s release with an off-hand jam and leverage him to the sideline. In off-coverage he has a smooth pedal and maintains a cushion while also showing an easy transition to lateral run. In off coverage he usually maintains leverage but if he loses it has a recovery burst. Second effort gets him to a lot of his plays. Shows a quick forward break on the throw and has separated receivers from the ball. As a zone defender shows good spacing and flashes the ability to defend route combinations. Physical in run support he can take on stalk blocks and shed working to the ball. Takes good angles in pursuit. Has tackling skill with knee bend and finish. Some hip tightness causes separation on route breaks at times. He can get grabby if getting separated and has had too many penalties the last two seasons. There were times he ran up the back of a receiver on a route break and struggled changing directions. Lost leverage at the line more than in past years and was prone to double moves. Was beaten in the deep outside at times even though in position. Locating the ball was inconsistent. Played with a broken foot for part of the season and that may have led to some below average play. He is a solid prospect and his physicality may project him to safety in the long term. His tackling ability should play well on special teams.
2021 stats: 38 T, 1 TFL, 4 PBU, 2 INT. Fifth/sixth round. (A-32 5/8, H-9 1/4, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
