Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about DAMONE CLARK:
LSU, 6024 239 4.57. Two-year starter, Baton Rouge, LA. Second-team All-SEC. High cut athlete with good length, he has solid physical traits and outstanding range as a chase player. Has lined up both inside and outside in the LSU defense. Patient with initial read, he generally fits inside gaps but is at his best in pursuit to the perimeter. Pursuit angles are precise and he maintains leverage on ball carriers working to the alley. Has power to take on blocks and a quick punch to disengage in a short space. Flashes tackling skill with upper and lower body power to finish. Times blitzes well and has a closing burst chasing in the backfield. Solid zone defender he takes a back pedal drop keeping his focus on the quarterback and receivers in the zone. Length helps in the throwing lane. Limits gains on short throws with closing speed. Depth of drop can be too shallow at times which limits the area he covers. Has some hip tightness and change of direction skill is average. Some hesitation reacting with the ball in the air. Makes big hits but not a lot of plays on the ball. Struggles with route breaks in man coverage. Inside run fits can be spotty as he can be over aggressive. At times he will go back door on a block and take himself out of a play. Occasionally will miss a tackle by lunging instead of gathering and striking. At other times he tackles high but is more efficient when he does. Needs to consistently wrap and finish. Chase ability will play well on special teams while he develops.
