Toledo, 6017 209 4.36. Three-year starter, Toledo, OH. First-team All-MAC in 2021. Has excellent measurables and speed to play safety in the NFL. Has played in the box, as a nickel and some one and two high. As a nickel he’s physical in run support and can separate from blockers with a quick punch and shed. Works off blocks to the ball and makes a lot of plays close to the line and in the backfield. Normally uses leverage well to chase to the sideline and tackle for limited or no gain. As a quarters safety, tracks quickly downhill and can chase from sideline to sideline. His speed gets him to the line in the alley to meet a ball carrier square. Solid tackling skill he uses his length to wrap up on tackles. Can make up for some bad angles. Has been used to blitz off the edge and has been effective making plays in the backfield. In coverage, plays the flat well with a burst in transitions. Has the speed to stay with inside receivers on vertical routes. As the play is extended, he is too easily separated on route breaks. Ability to process route combinations is inconsistent as he will hesitate at times while recognizing pattern pressure. His speed is mostly straight line, as he shows hip tightness on lateral movement and transitions. Ball skills are marginal as he has some trouble locating the ball on the back end. Can develop and play in the right scheme. Has been outstanding on all special teams and should find a home as a backup and special teams ace.
