UTSA, 6041 205 4.26. Two-year starter, Fort Worth, TX. Honorable Mention All-Conference USA in 2021. Long lengthy corner with rare speed. Has played corner for only two years as he was a wide receiver prior to 2020. Primarily an outside zone corner he also played off-man. He shows a fluid pedal to maintain cushion and a smooth turn and run on a vertical route. Has the speed to stay in phase up the field and recovery speed if beaten on a route break. His length is worth extra steps closing on receivers if behind. Quarterbacks have a limited area to throw in and often look elsewhere with him in the area. Length also helps closing voids in overlap zones. Improved ability to process route combinations has put him in position to make plays on the ball. Shows surprisingly good lateral agility and transitions for someone that tall. Has a burst to attack the catch point with the ball in the air. Mirror ability has improved but he is separated often on route breaks. Not the most active in run support he has trouble gathering and striking. Often late reacting and passes up tackle opportunities. Can get hung up on plant and drive moving forward. At times hesitation creates bad angles to the ball. Still inconsistent processing route combinations he can get caught out of position on multiple routes in zone. Needs to develop vision to see the quarterback and the threats. Has trouble locating the ball running with a vertical route. He is a rare athlete with speed, length and agility. Someone looking for the big corner will like his upside.
