A two-time team captain, Clemons will enter the NFL older than the average prospect at 25 years old. He has the prototype body for the defensive end position in a four-man front. Plays strong and heavy-handed with long arms and a solid straight-line burst. His aggressive nature and ability to turn his burst into power will give tackles a handful at the point of attack. Has shown an evolving skill set when it comes to his hand work and rush moves. If that trend continues, he will be a solid rotational end but never quite the level of a true every down player. There is too much stiffness in his lower body and he struggles to play at a consistent level. There is also a recent gun arrest on his record that will need extra screening. The kind of frame and body that you want walking off the team bus first. Yoked up with plus length and well-distributed muscle. More than a poster boy. Plays a nasty, physical game that wants to out-fight his man. Heavy-handed with good twitch above the waist. Generates more and more speed as he goes and it all turns into power. Will outfight, out-hustle, out-power his man. Has shown development with rush moves over the past three seasons. Shows a lot of stiffness throughout his lower body. Does not always stay square to his direction and won’t get under the pads of the blocker. Gets caught up too easily. Top heavy approach that needs better footwork. Won’t ever be a sudden mover. Struggles to make up for initial losses. Does not feel the offense or direction of the blocker.
