Ourlads' Profile:

2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about MAX MITCHELL:

Louisiana, 6062 307 5.32. Three-year starter, Monroe, LA. Earned All-Sun Belt honors the past two years, including first-team in 2021. A well-balanced technician, Mitchell brings a nice base-level skill set to work with. Has a natural and ever-present sense of body control and balance that can set him up well in pass protection. The sudden hand work and mobile hips will get him a lot of initial wins up the edge. Not big or strong enough yet. He will need a redshirt for his initial pro season with a personal key to the weight room. If he can gain quality weight while maintaining his developed skill set, Mitchell has starter-capability at either tackle spot. A move to guard could be in the works as well, but the lower body mass and anchor need to vastly improve. Low pulsed, smooth operator that has a natural presence about his blocking. Easy depth on his first two steps on pass protection while constantly keeping strong weight on the inside foot. Hands are up and ready to pounce at any given moment. Quality of footwork carries over to post-engagement. Keeps them tapping the ground with proper ankle flexion. Recoils after initial contact. Gathers himself if beat off the snap. Readjusts and redirects well. Smooth, oily hips for a lineman that shows the ability to stay square to his man and get between the ball carrier and the defender. Gets to the second level in a hurry but maintains posture. Can lead block into space and plays the timing plus angle game well in the screen game. Undersized when it comes to girth and overall muscle mass. Will have a hard time maintaining ground against pro pass rushers initially. Does not strike the defender hard enough to get consistent push in the running game. Knee bend is inconsistent because there isn’t much power derived below the waist. Will be a step late to pick up stunts and blitzes to the inside shoulder.

OSR:44/51. Second/third round. (A-33 1/2, H-10, BP-DNP, 10-1.80).
