Ourlads' Profile:

2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about CADE OTTON:

Washington, 6050 247 4.75. Four-year starter, Turnwater, WA. Earned first-team All-Pac 12 honors in 2021. Brings a very high floor for teams that want a steady, long-term starter at tight end. Checks all the boxes when it comes to size, athletic ability, and every down impact. Shows tremendous upside as a blocker with his explosive hands and sturdy base along with a keen sense of where to be and what to do. Also brings a sense of steadiness to the passing game with his ability to get open and fight through traffic for the ball. His greatest trait arises after the catch as he is a load to bring down and runs with a lot of will and toughness. Barrels over defensive backs and looks like the biggest kid at recess that nobody wants to deal with. Has some limitations when it comes to speed and agility but he is good enough in those departments to complement his style well. Has the ideal frame and body type for an every down role. Strong and densely built, capable of making an impact as an in-line blocker. Excels with initial pop and contact at the point of attack and maintains a strong latch onto his defender. Strong, grippy hands always have a way of finding themselves with inside position. Twitchy and stable lower body with easy bend at the knees and ankles. Shows sudden breaks as a route runner. Gets his head around in a hurry and adjusts his momentum naturally when tracking the ball. Will fight through traffic and use his strength to win contested situations. Fast tuck and run ability and can be a handful to take down for defensive backs. Plays hungry, lowers his pad level with ease, and shows tremendous lean-forward power after the catch. Has a hard cap to his baseline athleticism and juice. Acceleration upfield and overall top speed won’t put many cover men on their heels. Needs the extra step or two to break himself down when getting into his breaks. A few too many concentration drops where he tries to move north before possessing the ball. Needs to get better at blocking on the move.

2021 stats: 28-250, 8.9 ypr, 1 TD. Third/fourth round. (A-32 3/4, H-9 1/2, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
