Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about DAVID BELL:
Purdue, 6007 212 4.62. Three-year starter, Indianapolis, IN. Has ability to play slot and outside. A larger frame guy. More sudden than explosive. Limited straight-line speed in comparison to top inside/outside in draft class. A crafty route runner. Uses technique over speed to get open. Good posture in and out of transition. Wastes very little movement in and out of transition. Seems to get excited by man coverage. Excels at creating space in one-on-one situations. Keeps off-man coverage defenders off balance. Fundamentally sound technician. A volume catcher. Shows understanding of leverage and using tempo changes on route stems. Has shown a wide array of releases to defeat press coverage. Has displayed a passion for running routes in between the hashes. Limited burst out of transition. Shows great balance at the top of routes, but struggles to maintain balance at times against reroutes. Presents a nice sized target from slot position. More sudden and technically sound than explosive or shifty. Patient route runner who uses shifts in tempo to out-patient the most patient defenders. Shows understanding of coverages and has the ability to manipulate zone defenders to find holes and openings in zone coverages. Show good ability in space, but lacks the straight-line speed explosiveness to be considered a true threat with the ball. Had a lackluster and underwhelming showing at the Combine. Aggressive at the catch point even in traffic. Maximizes yards after the catch. Makes people miss in space. More of a possession receiver than a high ball winner.
