Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about KERBY JOSEPH:
Illinois, 6005 203 4.43. One-year starter, Orlando, FL. First-team All-Big 10 and PFF All-America. Was on nobody’s radar going into the season. He seemed to come out of nowhere after hardly seeing the field his first three years at Illinois. Was outstanding for the Illini picking off five passes and breaking up four more while being a reliable tackler. Shows football intelligence and is rarely out of position. Quality movement skill, he has decent range in the deep zones. He easily flips his hips to get over the top. Sticks to responsibility and balances multiple receivers in the intermediate and deep zones. Uses peripheral vision to see the quarterback and route combinations. Excellent ball reactions he can get to the catch point with length to extend for the ball. Shows some pop hitting receivers on the catch. His reactions made quarterbacks wary of throwing in his area. Quick to get out of his pedal he shows excellent tracking skill in run support. Change of direction is smooth and sudden. Normally maintains leverage with good angles in pursuit. Has the ability to make the plays in space. Positions well on the tackle but will come in too low at times and lose the frame of the ball carrier. Angles to the ball are inconsistent coming downhill. Can be indecisive at times and a little slow to react. At times gives up too much room underneath. Overall speed is a question but he plays fast for the most part. Has upside and should improve with experience. Has been solid on special teams.
2021 stats: 57 T, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 2 PBU, 5 INT. Fourth/fifth round. (A-33, H-10 1/4, VJ-38.5, SS-DNP).
