Texas A&M, 6037 283 5.00. Junior entry, three-year starter, San Antonio, TX. Capped off his career with a first-team All-SEC and first-team All-America season. The pass rush specialist was moved all over the defensive front. He primarily lined up at end and as a stand up outside linebacker, but his body type and size will likely keep him inside at tackle in most schemes. Huge bubble butt, but rather thin from that point on down to his ankles. Promotes big time power and explosion but also quick feet and easy change of direction. Has the kind of get-off and rush moves that will cause headaches for heavy-footed blockers. Can whip by them in a blink and his reaction to the ball is noteworthy. Knows how to finish behind the line of scrimmage, as seen with his 24.5 tackles for loss and 13 sacks over his career. The question with him is whether or not he can be an every down player. Doesn’t exactly fit into a pure edge role, and he may not be stout enough to play inside every down. He best fits into a situation where guys are rotated and moved around often, but he may not be the difference maker he was in college. Naturally capable of playing low to the ground. Change of direction and burst to the ball creates massive production. Can be effective in both space and in traffic. Lacks a consistent level of stoutness against the double team. Will take himself out of plays, needs more gap integrity. Versatility can be viewed as a negative in some ways. Lacks enough juice to be a pure edge threat, lacks enough size and power to reside inside play to play. Doesn’t have the next gear in pursuit. Not a pure athlete in space. Lower body seems flimsy and his hands don’t make a lot of impact.
